This project was part of a government office refurbishment scheme in Wakefield, with involvement from the Morris & Spottiswood Group to take the project from Stage 4 to completion.

There were initial concerns over the security aspect of the proposed office, given the nature of the information being handled by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). This resulted in measures such as a security lobby and an upgraded separating wall to an adjacent occupied office space being implemented to limit acoustic and visual privacy.

The proposed open plan layout was subdivided to facilitate different departments and facilities for staff. A central kitchenette offered a breakout space, with the use of bespoke timber slats providing a sense of semi-privacy between adjacent areas. Meeting booths were installed, offering full and semi-private discussion areas throughout the space and several informal meeting tables were added to encourage collaborative working amongst staff.

A new server room was installed with a reconfigured mechanical system to coincide with the new office layout. The existing ceiling grid was then repurposed to assist the proposed M&E design.

For wheelchair and ambulant users, accessible facilities and adaptable office layouts were created to allow adequate turning and transfer space.

The final project was well received with a high standard of output and delivery.
